NAPLES, FL — September 18, 2026 — Woodward, Pires & Lombardo, P.A. is proud to have been one of the sponsors supporting Christian Woodward, an eighth-grade Eagle Scout candidate with Troop 2001, in his effort to build two lifeguard stands for Vanderbilt Beach in Naples.
About Christian’s Eagle Scout Project
Christian developed the project after noticing lifeguard stations at beaches he visited throughout the country while participating in sailboat racing. After wondering why similar stations were not available at the beaches he visited in Southwest Florida, Christian chose to make lifeguard stands the focus of his Eagle Scout project.
The project took more than a year to complete. Christian worked with fellow scouts, family, friends, and community supporters throughout the process and spent much of his summer helping construct the two stands. Approximately $10,000 in materials was used for each stand, with Christian raising donations and obtaining donated materials to help complete the project.
Building the Lifeguard Stands
The construction of the two stands required planning, fundraising, coordination, and hands-on work. Christian spent the summer working alongside a crew and adults to build the structures at Vanderbilt Beach.
The completed stands provide an elevated vantage point for lifeguards to monitor the surf and identify potential water hazards or emergencies. The stands work in tandem with North Collier Fire Control & Rescue’s Ocean Rescue Tower at Vanderbilt Beach.
Supporting Beach Safety at Vanderbilt Beach
North Collier Fire Control & Rescue unveiled its first Ocean Rescue Tower in Collier County at Vanderbilt Beach on September 4, 2026. Christian’s work supporting the Ocean Rescue initiative was recognized during the dedication and deployment ceremony.
The new ocean rescue tower and Christian’s lifeguard stands provide elevated locations that allow lifeguards to better monitor beach and water conditions. According to North Collier Fire, the Ocean Rescue program is part of the district’s efforts to provide beach safety services at Vanderbilt Beach.

The project brought together local businesses, organizations, family members, friends, fellow scouts, and community supporters to help provide the funding, materials, and assistance needed to complete the two lifeguard stands.

His project demonstrates how a young person can identify a need in the community, develop a plan, and work with others to bring that idea to life. Christian described one of the lessons he learned through the project as the importance of giving young people opportunities to serve and make a difference in their communities.
