Woodward, Pires & Lombardo Builds Bridges Together With the FGCU Wings of Hope Art Challenge Contest

Never Say Goodbye to the Florida Panther Art Contest

NAPLES, Fla. (Nov. 10, 2021) — The Naples law firm of Woodward, Pires & Lombardo, P.A. (WPL) is helping to build bridges of hope as a sponsor of the Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) Wings of Hope “Never Say Goodbye to the Florida Panther” 2021-2022 Art Challenge Contest. The participants include over 2500 Collier County fourth and fifth grade elementary students and high school students. The young artists use their art to educate others about the Florida panther’s challenges and other important facts about Florida wildlife and natural habitat. For example, the Florida panthers’ coloration is tan, not black.

All participating students will receive a beautiful Florida panther poster sponsored by the Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens. The Art teachers of the top four elementary and high school winners will receive a $100 prize courtesy of WPL and a one-year family pass to the Naples Zoo. The top four elementary and high school student-artists will receive varying cash prizes sponsored by the Florida Wildlife Federation, a panther paw print painting from the Naples Zoo and FGCU Wings of Hope swag.

FGCU Wings of Hope Program Director Mrs. Ricky Pires, explains that “with only 120-230 adult Florida panthers left in the world, all located within Southwest Florida, it is vital to save and protect this endangered species. By participating, FGCU’s Wings of Hope program helps build bridges of hope for wildlife and the natural world through education, research and awareness and kindness. The Florida Panther is considered an ‘Umbrella Species.’ When we save the Florida panther, we save all of the wildlife, clean air and water, within their habitat, resulting in saving us all.”

These final eight posters will be on display the entire month of January in the Collier County Commissioner chambers with two information boards on the natural history of the Florida panther, mission and sponsors. They will also be displayed in the Collier County Public Schools lobby and at FGCU.
