Attorney Craig Woodward to be Honored at Marco Island Historical Society’s 25th Anniversary Gala

MARCO ISLAND, Fla. (Jan. 29, 2019) – The Southwest Florida law firm of Woodward, Pires & Lombardo, P.A. (www.wpl-legal.com) announces that Partner, Craig Woodward, will be honored at the Marco Island Historical Society’s (MIHS) 25th Anniversary Gala. The invitation-only Gala will be held February 9th at the Island Country Club on Marco Island.

The MIHS Gala, themed “Dreams Do Come True” will celebrate 25 years of preserving Marco Island’s rich history through events, awareness and involvement with the community. Woodward, who leads the law firm’s Marco Island office, has been a staple in the Marco Island community as a resident for over 50 years. He has played an integral role in creating and funding the Marco Island Historical Society/Museum. Throughout the years, he has served as its President and Exhibit Chairman and was on various committees to help the organization advance and establish itself as a pre-eminent cultural and educational attraction for the Island. He and his wife, Bonnie, collectively raised $1.2 million to help build the museum as part of a fundraiser called “Dancing with the Stars.”

“Craig Woodward has been an important part of the history of Marco Island for the past 50 years. The Marco Island Historical Society is proud to honor him at our upcoming gala celebrating 25 years of preserving and sharing our island’s precious history,” says Pat Rutledge, Executive Director of the Marco Island Historical Society.

“I am starting my 51st year living on Marco Island and it never ceases to amaze me how much the locals and visitors alike share the spirit and joy of living or vacationing in this beautiful place that is also a historical and archaeological gem,” said Woodward. “I am honored to be able to take part in the 25th anniversary of the Marco Island Historical Society and I’m confident in the continued success of this wonderful organization.”

Woodward’s writings, including “Are You a Marco Old Timer?” have been featured in area publications, and his involvement in the community has been recognized throughout the years. Woodward has been named Marco Island Citizen of the Year (2007) and has been featured as a keynote speaker and sponsor of Marco Island’s 50th Anniversary in 2015. He has been a board member of multiple local civic organizations and is affectionately known as Marco Island’s unofficial historian.
